Havnevej Housing - Nykøbing Sjælland
The site Havnevej 4 is located as a flat plot around the Rema 1000 supermarket and the associated parking lot.
The location is quite well anchored right between the pedestrian street and the harbor and the upcoming housing development will really have a great location to benefit both the city, the area and the residents. The intention is to build highly sustainable and healthy homes in pure wooden construction on screw foundations, which is truly the way of the future and can be varied in many sizes and needs.
The foundation screws mean that not a single gram of concrete is needed, they are set in a few days and are made of 75% recycled steel, produced in a factory that runs 100% on solar energy. Furthermore, they can last for 100-200 years. The wooden construction is placed on top of the screws, as factory-produced units, which are assembled on site to complete homes in healthy and sustainable materials, including the so-called Burnt Wood on the facades, which is an 800-year-old Japanese conservation method that makes the wood more or less maintenance-free for 80 years.
The construction itself will only last a few weeks, as both screws and units are placed with trucks and cranes in a few days. This means minimal disruption to neighbors and the city, and the time from vision to implementation is limited to an absolute minimum. The construction is therefore very flexible and extremely sustainable in both production and installation, and it is healthy to live in, while the wooden construction still absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere and thus contributes to a cleaner local environment. If the construction is to be removed in the distant future, it can be done in a few weeks and possibly set up elsewhere without major disruption to the land and environment.
