Holidays, Watersports, Community and Sustainability at the seaside by the old ferry port in Halsskov
The project unites nature, architecture and green technology in a year-round universe with high standards for sustainability and quality of life. All buildings and houses are built as modular buildings in FSC-certified wood, with screw foundations and materials that enable DGNB Platinum/Diamond certification, and will be some of the most sustainable builds in DK. The area is designed with community houses, playgrounds and green mobility - all integrated into a nature-like landscape, where community and privacy are naturally balanced.
Here, nature, community and green innovation come together in a whole, where both watersports people, tourists and permanent residents, children and adults can find peace, play and presence in beautiful surroundings. All the different housing options in the villages vary in size from 9 to 125 m² and are designed specifically for the project – with a focus on aesthetics, function and sustainability. They are produced indoors as finished modules in materials of the highest quality and with minimal environmental impact. The construction meets the strictest requirements and aims for DGNB Platinum/Diamond certification – far beyond the voluntary sustainability class. FSC-certified wood from sustainable forestry, natural wood fibre insulation and facades in charred wood according to the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique are used – a beautiful and almost maintenance-free solution, which was also used by the Vikings. The foundations are planned as screw foundations in 75% recycled steel, which significantly reduces the CO₂ footprint compared to traditional concrete solutions. This protects the landscape, preserves biodiversity and minimizes the need for terrain intervention.
A vibrant holiday area in harmony with nature
The area is designed as a green open space, where paths, planting and natural screening between the houses and villages create a forest-like atmosphere with privacy – without closing off the community feel.
Community houses will accommodate functions such as a café, kiosk, information, laundry and possibly a watersports & nature education centre. The playgrounds will be built in the same sustainable materials and architectural style as the cabins. Small pavilions (domes) in each enclave create a setting for togetherness and coziness – for children during the day and adults in the evening.
Access to the area will be organized with gentle solutions such as stabilized gravel and grass reinforcement. Electric charging stations, shared bikes and green mobility will be a natural part of the overall experience.
With Halsskov Surf Town & Nature Village, we are writing a new chapter in holiday & leisure, sports and residential combined villages – with responsibility for both people and nature.

Halsskov Færgehavn is a former ferry port that has now been converted into a water sports center with facilities such as a diving tower, a beach and other maritime activities. This makes it an attractive place for both locals and visitors who want to enjoy various water sports activities in safe surroundings.
The area is popular with local bathers, winter bathers and divers, and the view of the Great Belt and the bridge makes the place unique. Here you will not find a fine sandy beach, but on the other hand an authentic atmosphere, fresh sea air and plenty of space. Halsskov Færgehavn is an exciting alternative to the classic bathing beaches – close to both the city and the waves.
